The Radioactive Mixtape Demo #FD @2tukani #Bulawayo #Zimbabwe

Today marks a very special day for me. It's not only the day I "finally" release my first solo project, but it's also the day my father was born. Well, I'm sure he would have been pleased to listen to it if he was still around.

This "mixtape demo" is a compilation of some of the tracks I've done so far, dating back to the year 2013. They are not a lot though. The reason why I called it a "Mixtape Demo" is because it's a preliminary mixtape (It's not my official Mixtape). I decided to release this project so that people can have an idea of who The Activist is and what to expect when he drops the official tape/ album (which will be before the end of this year). The first track I'm going to talk about is "Who we are" which features Static and Baffy who are both upcoming, underground Hip hop artists from Bulawayo. This is a very chilled track, and has a similar concept to one of Common's old jams (You will definitely recognize the similarity if you're a big Common fan). Common is definitely one of my favorite rappers. The second track I'll briefly talk about is "Africa" , which I recorded with my rap group BYO - Building Your Origins and it featured in our first mixtape "Building Blocks". It's also a chilled jam, whereby I was rapping over a beat-box melody. My favorite line from this track is " Yes we need more positive actions/ cause actions speak louder than African accents/ ... ". If you're into lyricism , I'm sure you will like this track. The next track that I will talk about is "Freedom Activity". This track basically exposes who The Activist is, and what I'm trying to do with my music. So far, out of all my tracks, this seems to be the fans favorite. The last track is a joint I did with a good friend of mine who goes by the name "AKidWit_No_Tahg". It's my latest track, and it has an old school vibe to it. We decided to call the track : "The Bars Show" because it had a relaxed feel to it that made it sound as if we were spitting dope bars at an open mic session (Shout out to the host "Bars")

I decided to throw in a poem I recited were I talk about my city (Bulawayo). I'm also a poet who has published a couple of books/ anthologies. I've been privileged to work with prominent people such as Mcpotar , Ernest Mackina , Njabulo Moyo, and yes, Albert Nyathi. The poem is very short and sweet. I also through into the mixtape demo an instrumental that I made quite a while ago. Feel free to use it, and also send the track back to me so that I give it a listen. (I would encourage you to use the same title of the instrumental for your track , because I would love to see who's more creative, but feel free to use your title if you feel the need to). Well, that's about it for now, feel free to give me feedback on twitter @2tukani . Peace!!!

@AJO
Rap Music I Sing

I go by the name AJO am a HipHop/ Rap recording artist from Uganda in East Africa and i just released a mixtape titled "Rap Music I Sing" on the 2nd of Feb 2015
“AJO”, real name Ariong James Oscar is a Ugandan born and raised HIP HOP/ RAP recording artist and song writer.

Born to a Dr. Atai Anne and Mr. James Okaali. Ajo has established himself as a vibrant and outspoken rapper with an impressive emulsion of wit, literacy and character in his lyrics a skill which has led many to describe him as an intersection of hip hop talent.
Ajo’s ambition and love for music predates his initiation into the hip hop fraternity, “he always loved music, as a child he used to wake everybody up early in the morning with his humming or chanting away to some orchestra in his mind” – Dr. Atai Anne.

Ajo started listening to hip hop music round the age of 12 shortly after his primary school. He fell in love with the message, the attitude, the freedom, the intricacy and the respect this genre of music commanded. It was during this time that he started to write cover versions to his favorite hip hop songs and gradually he developed his lyrical skill.

In his high school, AJO together with a few of his school friends formed a music group they called Clean Block Gang (C.B.G). Ajo and his peers strongly worked on their music and content development, “he wrote lyrics on almost everything; his locker, his book covers, his jean trousers and every piece of paper he could find” – Abel lubulwa (member of the C.B.G).

Ajo went further to record a couple of songs like; Rap music I sing, Rap city, Take it down easy then he teamed up with one of the best music producers in Uganda, HANNZ TACTIQ, together with whom he did his first radio smash song, NEVER BACK DOWN on which he featured Lethal and Hannz tactiq himself. This song went on to enjoy radio streaming and made it to a music chart on one radio station, HOT 100.

Ajo didn’t stop there; he later got in touch with a former rapper turned producer, Joe Tumwebaze aka J.T founder of Yego productions, a record label and it’s here that AJO fully embraced his passion for a hip hop music career. Mentored by J.T, he mastered his craft and worked on his first music compilation titled “Rap Music I Sing”, a piece that takes the listener through an in-depth understanding of him as an artist and a human being plus an appreciation of his lyrical and content maturity.

AJO is definitely a must listen to artist with an ambition and talent enough to be the best rapper in Africa and probably cross continent.

He is one every aspiring rapper should look up to and every old rapper should look out for.

lyrics

LYRICS

1st verse

A supernatural high
I've finally been revived.
Feel like I can finally fly
Beyond these earthly skies
It's like Peace
Almost like it's washing over me
And I can see
You got my head light
I feel so free
And I don't think there's any other place
That I would rather be
Besides here in your arms
Or with you lying next to me
(Owww)
I mean that bug
Did bite deep
I got you in my dreams
Now I'm talking in my sleep
I see you everywhere
Your face is so fair
Your mind's so aware
And you got these little songs that you sing
And when you do
I'm singing along too
Is this what love does do?

Chorus

And forever stuck together
This bond will remain
We got this siamese connection
Now attached at the brain
I'll pass on any surgery
Cause I don't need this fixed
The only way we'll plant our seeds
And learn what living is
Protect from weeds
Fortunatley
We'll still stay HIGH
Ready to grab your hand love
I know it's time to fly
Ready to grab your hand love
I know it's time

2nd Verse

I let this love be uncontrollable
I didn't fall in
I chose to dive
it's my rise
My swagger
My style
became my reason why
Like my first born child
It's just about the mid of day
Let's bask for a while
I found my being
When you met me
Now I love to love your love
And be loved by your love
I once met a smile that could light up the room
But in you there's this glow
That undoes hell's doom
And that grin is contagious
Even more than a yawn
And when I'm lacking oxygen
Your that breathe that I'm on
You got my whole being minty fresh
Taste what I said?
Let's grab eternity
Your my forever friend
