Cynthia "Flowchyld" Marangwanda "Art Of Invisibility" (Harare - Zimbabwe)
Cynthia “Flowchyld” Marangwanda is a rising spoken-word poetry star from Zimbabwe. In her excellent spoken-word/ Hip Hop piece ‘Art of Invisibility‘ you can get a taste of her sharp mind and poetry. In the poem she is impressively destructing the general media portrayal of African women and then turning the piece into a celebration of African womanhood (see extract below). By the way: She is also nicely promoting Chimamanda Adichie‘s great novel ‘Purple Hibiscus‘. Cynthia Marangwanda has recently received international attention through her participation in the Poetry International Festival in the Netherlands. As proved in this poem she says her passion is “to empower, liberate and elevate girls and women through my spoken-word poetry and to be the poetic voice of my generation“.
“… I find it easier not to exist
in this world of mass media constructed images of a kind of beauty
most of Sub-Saharan Africa seems to lack
which means a darker skinned ethnic looking sister like me
is pretty much non-existent in the eyes of the global machine
except as the stereo-typical victim of poverty, disease and conflict
the concept of an intelligent, beautiful, natural African woman has to be a lie, a myth
because I can’t seem to find myself in your magazines, your movie scenes
your pictures dominate my vision
but in none of them do I find my own reflection
so I simply choose not to be there …“

Aura "The Poet " · Aura Kawanzaruwa (Harare, Zimbabwe)
Información
Biografía
“I write from a funny little place in my head where things only make sense on paper first then actualize on stage in a final act of literary defiance!”
-Aura ‘Regal Rebel’ Kawanzaruwa
21-year-old Harare girl, Aura, breezed into the fore of the Zim entertainment scene as a dynamic performing artist, ‘a Jackie of All Trades’. She has worked unseen on various productions since she was 10 years old as an actress, poet, dancer and singer. Add to that choreographer, visual artist and MC and you get a picture of how well rounded this young woman is. In her poetry space she has been writing since she was 12 but never thought it possible to give her poetry an ‘audio-visual’ aspect till late 2008 when she suddenly appeared on platforms like Sistaz Open Mic and Bocapa Open Mic (both projects run by Pamberi Trust at the Book Café in Harare). Her poetry is laden with clever lyrics and insightful undertones of meaning. Her topics veer off the beaten track and come, when she performs, with a sassy delivery that never fails to ignite undercurrents of excitement in her audience. Aura has performed on many a stage since including HIFA 2010, Intwasa Festival (Bulawayo), Chimanimani Arts Festival, UNIFEM Africa UNiTE Campaign against gender based violence and many other weird and wonderful stages. She dreams of taking on the world and speaking on stages too big for one person.

Rhyme Assasin is that type of Mcee who can light up any beat. He
loves battle rapping and he is a conscious rapper with a good neck
for blazing tracks with his
amazing rich lyrical content.
Rhyme has to do with
the poetic expression of my lyrics while Assassin is indicative of the creative
talent with which I execute the art.
A Lyricist who
is versalite in style from punchlines lines to a smooth flowing lyrics
With a mature flow.
Based in London, United
Kingdom, Rhyme Assassin was born and raised in Zimbabwe.
Rhyme Assassin has worked on a number of
creative initiatives including rap battles and live performances back in
2000-2002. Both his solo and collaborative performances have mesmerised the audiences . He then dropped music when
he left uk in 2002 but 10 years later he then met with a Uk producer named Deep
Voice who gave me blazing beats that reignited my passion. He the started
writting and recording early 2002 Rhyme Assasin is now working on his debut
double album called the Grand Synopsis .
His creative talent has endeared him with with hundreds of young urban funs. The talent
is unquestionable.
Rhyme Assassin is always looking for new creative and innovative
ways of expressing his musical talent.
Working under his own Movement, Assasin gave birth to the Nameless 263 Records. The name -
Nameless263, has two parts to it. Nameless simply implies that the group defies categorization. It is beyond typecasting. 263 is the international dialing code for Zimbabwe so i can identify myself as Zimbabwean. Assasin is currently working on a Debut Double Album due to be released in January 2013.
